"We cannot thank the hospice enough for everything they have done for us all.”
“In June 2022, my granny, Maureen Hirst passed away peacefully at hospice, Isle of Man surrounded by her family.
My granny did over 10 years of voluntary work for the hospice in their day centre after her daughter, my auntie, Lisa Lowe died in 1997. The hospice always held a special place in my granny’s heart.
On the run up to my granny passing, she was at the hospice for respite and deteriorated quickly where she ended up staying for end-of-life care. We as a family cannot thank the hospice enough for everything they did for my granny, for both me and my mum and our whole family at this heartbreaking time.
They were fantastic to reassure us, showed compassion, and were calm and caring. Each member of the hospice staff we saw always made the effort with my granny, to make her laugh, smile, talked and listened to her. The nurses, doctors and healthcare assistants explained every situation to us, checked if we were okay and was a shoulder to cry on.
In the final days before my granny passed, they made sure she was comfortable and peaceful. The day she passed it was a sunny, beautiful day. I remember the birds were singing and the sun was shining in the beautiful gardens into my granny’s room. My granny loved being in her garden and fed the birds every day at her home. That memory will stay with me forever.
We cannot thank the hospice enough for everything they have done for us all and cannot recommend the hospice enough.”
